Secure EDI Joins Industry Initiative to Enhance All-Payers Environment. CAQH Promulgating Standards to Increase Efficiency, Quality of Electronic Data Exchange
Secure EDI, a leading healthcare information technology company, has joined an alliance of health plans, providers, trade associations and technology consultants who are collaborating to enhance provider and payer access to electronic patient information. The goals of the alliance are to streamline current systems for the verification of plan coverage and the adjudication of claims.
The CAQH Committee on Operating Rules for Information Exchange (CORE) has brought together more than 100 industry stakeholders to develop a multi-phase set of uniform business rules to simplify healthcare administrative data exchange.
“The work of CAQH has the potential to increase the efficiency and the quality of healthcare nationwide,” said Barry Byrd, president of Secure EDI which is based in Charlotte, N.C. “All Secure EDI solutions and systems are based on an all-payers platform which aligns perfectly with the goals of CAQH in bringing industry leaders together.”
CAQH launched CORE to create and promote an all-payers solution that allows providers to access patient insurance information before or at the time of service using the electronic system of their choice. The first and second phases of CORE rules have been issued.
More than 35 health plans, large provider groups and health IT vendors are using the rules to make electronic data communications between providers and payers seamless, streamlined and predictable. In many cases the implementation of the rules is eliminating the need for time-consuming phone calls and paperwork.
“Secure EDI is committed to meeting the guidelines provided by CORE rules,” Byrd said. “This alliance is unprecedented in our industry and very much needed.”
